2016-2017

Department of Library organized Library Orientation program for new students during the month of July-August, 2016 in Library. A Book Club was formed as non-cultural society on 27th June 2016 and orientation of book club members about the same was done on different occasions. A seminar was organized for students along with student union on Information Literacy: User awareness and instruction program on 29th July 2016. International Literacy day oath was organized 8th Sep., 2016 among Library users. Department of Library also organized a Book exhibition cum fair on 14th Sep., 2016 and observed Swatchchata pakhwara on 8th Sep., 2016. A workshop for faulty members on the topic H-INDEX was organized on 9th March 2017. WEBOPAC and facility of UGC INFLIBNET and access to DU Library Catalogue continued during the year. Gargi Library website and online use of e-resources increased during the year for easy understanding and online access to Library resources and facilities. 736 books were added till 14/3/2017 making total of 73408 accessioned books in all. At present library has an asset of 217 CDs and subscribed to 47 periodicals and 10 newspapers. Electronic Resource Management package for e-resources: User control provided by NLIST. The library subscribes to a large number of Electronics Resources through UGC- Infonet which includes around 97000+ e-Books and 6000+ e-sources and University of Delhi connectivity which includes a large number of Electronic Resources available for access through Delhi University Library System. It includes the Reference Sources, Bibliographic Sources, Statistical Sources, and Full Text Sources. Approximately books 175514 were consulted and loaned by users, which includes consultation of ref. sec. and excludes use of loose issues of periodicals. Approximately 60210 footfalls happened in library during the year till 10/3/17, which excludes faculty and non teaching staff. During the year approximately 18974 books were issued and 18729 books were returned. 

2017-2018:

To create love for reading and for books, Library organized book fair on 27 October, 2017 for students, faculty and non-teaching staff. Library also honored library staP. Apart from this Library conducted quiz for students in the college library on the same day. Library also displayed books on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar selected by staff. All events organized were warmly received and successful. To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th march 2018, library displayed 150 books on “Women” for the students, faculty and non teaching staff. Gargi Faculty has always been very active participators in published work, library took a humble initiative by inviting all faculty members to display their published work from 9th-13th march 2018, Gargi College Library exhibited published work of Faculty. Approx. 20 Books and 74 Articles were submitted for display which was visited by 1310 students during the exhibition. Approximately 71457 footfalls happened in library during the year till 19th March, 2018, which excludes faculty and non teaching stap. During the year approximately 16981 Books were issued and 17116 Books were returned till 19th March, 2018.

2018-2019:

Participated in IFLA global vision workshop organized by Indian Library Association on July 5, 2018 at New Delhi. Invited as a Resource Person for ICSSR Sponsored Short-Term Course (STC) organized by SGGS College, Chandigarh on July 27, 2018. Presented paper and co-chaired the session in SDPA National Conference held at New Delhi “Utilization analysis of Library: Case study of Gargi College Library” (Gandhi peace foundation) on October 13, 2018. Paper published in an edited volume” Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision in knowledge management and digital libraries today” published by Gautam Book Center, New Delhi, India, 2018. Invited by NDTV show on October 11, 2018 “Current Challenges the Publishers’ Face”. Attended and invited as Moderator for International Conference organized by National Law University, Delhi, India (November 29 – December 1, 2018). Attended National five days’ workshop on “Library automation and Digitization” organized by Delhi University (December 17-21, 2018). Invited by SCERT (DIET) as a Resource Person to deliver talks on February 1-5, 2019 on different centres in Delhi. Invited as a Reporter and Presented Paper during ICoASL International Conference held at Delhi, India during February 14-16, 2019

2019-2020

Gargi College Library organizes an orientation program for the fresher’s to brief them on the facilities available in the library. The library staff takes this opportunity to inform them about the rules related to the issue and return of books. An exhibition of books authored by the college members (students, teachers and non -teaching staff) is held annually. The other activities of the library include lectures, quizzes and poetry competition. To facilitate the purchase of books, directly from the publishers, an annual book fair is held in the college. The total new books added to the library are 455. The library subscribes to 20 National Magazines, 2 International Magazines and 19 journals. This is besides the e-journals accessible through UGC INFLIBNET and Delhi University Library System.

2020-2021

Gargi College Library used online and offline mode to make library users to use library extensively by motivating and encouraging students and faculty about academic e resources from time to time. Organized 7 days online workshop with Library committee for the students and faculty of Gargi college on “Academic e–resources and also acted as a resource person. Organized National Webinar on “Enhancing quality & amp; visibility of Research output of faculty and researchers” for Gargi College on 16th May under the aegis of IQAC. The Library online Orientation Program held by the College Library on November 23, 2020 for all students to spread awareness and to train new library users to Library collection and services and finding and evaluating information available. Talk was delivered by clearing their doubts about the usage of library and its resources. Students and faculty from Arts, Humanities and Science attended the session. Online attendance was 900+, YouTube views were + 2.5 k. WEBOPAC and facility of UGC INFLIBNET and access to DU Library Catalogue continued during the year.
